Ground Beef Tostada Recipe
6 flour or corn tortillas
1/2 cup cooking oil for frying
1 lb. ground beef
1 pint Progresso Tamale refried beans
4 cups shredded lettuce
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
salt, pepper, oregano, cumin to taste or
taco seasonings mix
Accompaniment: salsa, guacamole, sour cream, diced tomatoes
Heat cooking oil over high heat in a small frying pan. Deep fry tortillas one at a time in the small frying pan. Drain tortillas on a paper towel. You can also use a deep fryer.
Add ground beef, salt, pepper, oregano and cumin or taco seasoning mix to a frying pan. Brown ground beef and drain.
Spread each tortilla with a Tbsp or two of refried beans as a base. Layer with ground beef, lettuce and cheese.
Top with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and tomatoes to taste.
Low Fat alternative:
Instead of frying the tortillas, spread cooking oil on the tortillas and
bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until crisp.
