Authentic Mexican Recipes

Sangria Recipe

1 lemon, sliced thin
1 orange, sliced thin
1 cup sugar
1 bottle chilled dry red wine
1 bottle dry white wine
1/2 cup cognac
1/4 cup orange liqueur (e.g. Grand Marnier or Cointreau)
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 cup chilled club soda
Ice cubes
Sliced peaches, grapes, strawberries, or other seasonal fruit (optional)

In a large bowl mix sugar with orange and lemon slices. Add wines, cognac, orange liqueur, and orange juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cover and chill for 4 to 6 hours or overnight. Transfer to a punch bowl and keep chilled until ready to serve. Add optional fruits. Stir in seltzer. Add ice cubes.
